The HOYO Process

The home buying process takes commitment and a lot of work. It can be joyful and frustrating. Either way the process involves you identifying and taking your next step. There are things you can do today to be on your way to owning your own home!

  1. Call HOYO to receive an invitation to a HOYO orientation. Visit the web page for your area for details and contact information: Austin | El Paso | Houston | Tarrant County | Dallas.
  2. After attending an orientation, complete an application and return it to the local HOYO office.
  3. HOYO staff will process application and obtain credit report.
  4. Identify any barriers to homeownership with HOYO staff.
  5. Is home ownership your next step?
    a. If YES, attend Homebuyer Education Class
    b. If NO, identify barriers, such as credit issues, debt reduction, and saving money. Work on your next step, keep your HOYO file active, and proceed when ready.
  6. Is home ownership your next step?
    a. If YES, submit Mortgage Loan Application with HOYO Commitment of Assistance.
    b. If NO, identify barriers, such as credit issues, debt reduction, and saving money. Work on your next step, keep your HOYO file active, and proceed when ready.
  7. Do you qualify for a loan? Is it enough?
    a. If YES, shop for a house.
    b. If NO, identify problem and work on correcting it. Reapply for loan.
  8. Is the offer accepted by the seller?
    a. If YES, arrange for HOYO Rehabilitation and Modification Assessment and Cost Estimate.
    b. If NO, negotiate with the seller and continue shopping if necessary.
  9. Can house be brought up to code and modified within HOYO financial requirements?
    a. If YES, CLOSE on your house, complete home modifications and MOVE IN!!
    b. If NO, continue house shopping.
